Conceptual Distinctions

Every fister develops personal preferences that shape how he approaches play. Outside a few fundamental safety principles, there is rarely a single correct way to fist. Different positions, practices, and techniques offer distinct advantages. Some focus on maximizing pleasure while others focus on skill development and physical progression. An indivualized approach consists of:

  • Position | refers to the placement of the body (usually in reference to the bottom) while fisting.
  • Practice | includes modalities or variations of fisting, the intensity of fisting, and general fisting styles.
  • Technique | encompasses specific manuevers that stimulate a hole, expand its capabilities, or redirect focus.
Figure 1.X: Position, Practice, and Technique

[INSERT NAME] demonstrates taking heavy punches (practices) on his knees (position), with a closed fist (technique).

Fisting Positions

A handful of positions are available for fisting bottoms. Common positions generally facilitate peneteration by reducing stress and trauma on the fist chute. Alternative positions are used less frequently during fisting sessions because they may be awkward or unnatural, uncomfortable, or dictated by the fisting environment. Conjugal positions involve more than two participants, with multiple individuals engaged in a single fisting activity rather than the traditional top-and-bottom pairing.

Common Positions

Most intermediate and advanced bottoms naturally gravitate toward either reclined or kneeling positions during a fisting session.

Reclined Positions

In technical jargon, reclined positions are known as supine positions. In the common venacular, fisters typically use on your back to refer to reclined positions.

The primary advantage of reclined positions is that the bottom can face the top and can connect through visual as well as tactual stimuli.

VOCABULARY

Supine

  1. Adjective (of a person) lying face upward or on his back.

There are three reclined positions:

  • Fully Reclined (Flat)

In the fully reclined or flat position, the bottom lies on his back on a stationary, flat surface, typically a bed or piece of furniture that is elevated.

The elevation makes it possible the top to sit or kneel in a comfortable position that allows his arm to penetrate the bottom without bending over (which will cause back strain in longer sessions). The elevation also helps ensure that his wrist and arm can remain parallel with the hole to prevent crowbarring.

    VOCABULARY

    Crowbar

    1. Noun a non-parallel angle of entry that causes discomfort in bottoms by placing pressure on the bones surrounding the first hole (pelvic outlet).

To ensure eye contact, it is often necessary to elevate the head with a pillow or soft object.

Figure 1.1: Fully Reclined Fisting Position

The reclined position is usually on an elevated surface to allow for proper body and fisting mechanics.

  • Partially Reclined

In the partially reclined position, the bottom lies supine with his back elevated above his hips. He may prop himself up with several pillows, wedges, or even furniture. This position accomplishes two things:

    • Improves Eye Contant | The bottom and top can easily see each others face's without the bottom having to straining his neck in process.
    • Transfers Control | The bottom has some control over penetration speed and depth as he can use his legs to raise and lower his hole onto the hand or arm.
Figure 1.2: Partially Reclined Fisting Position

The partially reclined position alllows better eye contact and transfers some control to the bottom.

  • Suspended / Sling

In the supspended or sling position, the bottom lies on his back in a sex sling.

The elevation of the sling provides the top with multiple options for positioning; he can kneel, sit, or stand. The sling almost always ensures face-to-face contact between partners. For a bottom, the sling has a couple advantages:

    • Angle of Adjustment | The sling straps or chains can be shortened or lengthened to adjust the tilt of his body to a comfortable position.
    • Penetration Control | Like the partially reclined position, the bottom can use his legs to pull back from the fist. He can also use his arms and legs to reposition his body to adjust the angle of entry and the position of the hand or arm within the fist chute.
Figure 1.3: Suspended / Sling Fisting Position

Sling fisting increases the bottom's control and flexibility angle entry.

Kneeling Positions

There are four reasons for using the kneeling or doggie position while fisting:

  • Practicality | When slings are not available, kneeling is often the most viable option.
  • Personal Preference | Some fisters feel more at ease in this position.
  • Power Dynamics | Kneeling positions are used to transfer or take contol in a fisting situation. Bottoms can push forward or pull back when kneeling, thus granting them more control of intensity, depth, and speed. Ironincally, even though the bottom has more control, the kneeling position can also amplify the power exchange for those that consider the relationship between a top and bottom as dominant and submissive. Kneeling removes eye contact and thus forces the bottom to cede some contol to his fisting partner.
  • Physiology and Anatomy | The position of the rectum in the pelvic cavity realigns more favorably when kneeling. Pelvic and abdominal organs shift in the kneeling positions. The structural dynamics of the pelvic outlet changes and enlarges slightly. These modifications within the fist chute facilitate advanced fisting practices such as punching, stretching, and depth play.

There are two primary kneeling positions:

  • Elevatad Head / Squat

The elevated head or squatting position is frequently used by new bottoms to contol entry into his hole. In this position, the chest and head are elevated above the hole. The arms are often fully extended or not used. More advanced bottoms may shift into this position from the lowered head position to decrease the intenisty and communicate non-verbally that they need a break.

The squatting position permits a bottom a choice in his interaction style with his partner. Through strategic positioning, he can face the top (similar to being fisting on the back), or he can face away from the top (similar to being fisted doggie style).

[ A ] Extended arms resuslts in the chest and head being elevated above the hole. [ B & C ] Squatting removes arms from the equation and can be done facing a partner or facing away from a partner.

  • Lowered Head / True Doggie

The lowered head or true doggie position maximizes human physiology and anatomy. The chest and head are lowered and the arms are usually bent so that the hole is elevated and presented to the top. Organs no longer weigh down on the upper fist chute, leg positions can be widened to maximize the size of the pelvic outlet, and the head can rest on a pillow for greater comfort and relaxation. This position is known to promote gaping.

Alternative Positions

Bottoms may also take fists in several atypical positions.

Conjugal Positions

Conjugal positions describe dyadic ( 1 ↔ 1 ) and polyadic ( 1 → N, N → 1, or N → N ) positions. Most conjugal positions are polyadic.

Dyadic

Unlike traditional anal sex, both partners in a fisting session can penetrate one another simultaneously. There are two common dyadic fisting positions:

  • Fisty-nine | Partners lie side by side and elevate the interior leg as if they were about to leg wrestle. Each can then insert his fist into his partners hole.
  • Slingshot | One partner lies in the sling while the other positions him self to his side. The standing parter can reach around the sling supports (chains or straps) and pentatrate the ass. The partner in the sling reaches through the standing partner's legs to gain access to the hole.

VOCABULARY

Dyadic

  1. Adjective Relating to or involving two participants, entities, or individuals.
Example: Elias and Eyvindr were both bottom versatile, so to satisy their holes' needs they fisted each other simultaneously in the dyadic fisty-nine position.

Polyadic

  1. Adjective Relating to or involving more than two participants, entities, or elements.
Example: Elias and Eyvindr conviced John to wreck their holes simultaneously using the chariot and double-decker positions.

Polyadic

Polyadic fisting positions allow for multiple simultaneous penetrations. There are several polyadic fisting positions:

  • Change of Guard | Two tops double a width play bottom. This is often called the handshake or handover.
  • Alternator | Two tops alternate punches on a single bottom.
  • Chariot | Two bottoms align their holes side by side so a top can fist both simultaneously.
  • T-bone | Two bottoms align their bodies with heads facing in opposite directions so that the top can position himself inbetween one another and fist both simultaneously.
  • Double Decker | One bottom stacks himself on top of the second bottom to allow the top to penetrate both simultaneously.
  • Double Chariot | Two tops perform the change of guard in two bottoms aligned in the chariot positions.
  • Phalanx | At least three width bottoms align themselves side-by-side and the tops double offsetting bottoms to create an inpenetrable Spartan phalanx.
  • Daisy Chain | Multiple versatile men link together in a chain of fisters.
  • Dog Sled | A top chariots to daisy chains.

Fisting Practices

Fisting is a diverse and highly adaptable sexual activity that takes on different forms based on physical technique, emotional intention, and mutual experience. Three key dimensions of practice shape how fisting is expressed and experienced.

Fisting Modalities

There are four specific categories (or types) of fisting:

  • Elementary / Traditional
  • Width / Stretch
  • Depth
  • Punch

Elementary / Traditional Play

This fisting modality involves inserting the hand and manipulating the lower fist chute to achieve sexual gratification.

Traditional fisting is the most common modality of fisting and the first activity experienced in one’s fisting journey.

QUICK REFERENCE

Width / Stretch Play

This type of fisting involves stretching the lower fist chute, and more specifically the first hole to maximum capacity.

The result is extreme sensory overload fueled by reflexes and nerves in the anal canal and rectum.

QUICK REFERENCE

Depth Play

This approach and play category involves stretching the lower and upper fist chutes to accept the forearm, elbow, or bicep.

It typically involves passing through the second hole and triggering reflexes within the upper fist chute.

QUICK REFERENCE

Punch Play

This type of fisting involves a relatively rapid insertion and withdrawal of the hand (and some cases, the arm) into the fist chute.

Punch play can occur at any depth within the fist chute and can be subdivided into four categories: open fist, closed fist, double, and piston. Pistoning involves rapid movement but is confined within the fist chute—the hand is never fully extracted from the hole.

QUICK REFERENCE

Fisting Styles

The four fisting modalities may be manifest in any of these three fisting styles:

  • Performative / Exhibition
  • Transactional
  • Interconnected

Performative / Exhibition Fisting

This style focuses on the theatrics of the insertion. Players are psychologically rewarded by surprising or shocking observers of the session with the intensity of play. Performative fisting can involve a single partner, both partners, or a handful of fisters.

Transactional Fisting

This expression of fisting is often expressionless—that is to say, it involves little connection between players and focuses more on triggering orgasm for the sake of getting off. It may be mutual, or it may occur when a partner consents to sex out of obligation rather than desire.

Interconnected Fisting

A majority of fisting involves a deep connection between partners and is extremely intimate. The intimacy is often derived from a sensation of trust, but can also originate from power exchange between partners (common in BDSM mindsets). The sensation of trust differs from actual trust or a sense of trust. The English language lacks the word to describe this emotion felt between fisters as they play; therefore, fisters often speak about fisting as an extreme sense of trust.

QUICK REFERENCE

Fisting Intensities

Within the three fisting styles, intensity may vary. While intensity is non-binary, the opposing ends of the spectrum include:

  • Sensual
  • Rough

Sensual / Intimate Engagement

This manifestation often involves extensive touch, close physical proximity, and deep eye-to-eye contact. Movement is usually deliberate, slow, and erotic in nature.

Rough / High Intensity Engagement

This presentation generates arousal through intense athleticism during play rather than methodical caressing and sensual touch. It couples well with transactional fisting and in particular, punch play. It is often a form of exhibition fisting.

Fisting Techniques

Techniques are defined as...

Overview

See Introduction to Fisting for ideas for expanding this section. Also consider making three of four technique tables: Stimulation, Distraction, Expansion, and possibly "problematic". Problematic might fit within each of the tree categories. One example of problematic: "The Train My Hole Technique."

Index of Techniques

Technique ▲▼ Type ▲▼ Description
The Bore Standard The top uses the index, pointer, and ring finger to massage the hole in a boring (drill-like) circular movement. When movement is gentle, this is known as efflurage. When the bore is rapid, it can be described as turbulent.
The Clarinet / Oscilator Standard The top, once fully inserted into the hole, oscilates his fingers as if he were playing the piano or wind instrument such as the clarinet.
The Dildo Standard The top positions his hand, arm, and himself such that the bottom has all control. All insertion and movement is controlled by the bottom, usually by squatting, kneeling, or using a contracting movement to manage penetration and depth.
The Jack-in-the-Box Advanced The top masturbates inside the hole. There are several methods for this technique, including:
  • Coronal Petting
  • Stationary Fuck
  • Stationary Fuck with a third party (Jack-His-in-the Box); see also The Safe Cracker technique
  • Full Stroke
The Overlay Opening This opening technique involves gradually inserting fingers from both hands into the hole until all eight fingers and a single thumb are inserted. It varies from The Butt Clock and The Big Ben in that the palms of the hands and fingers overlay one another rather than rest back-to-back.
The Wobbler Opening This opening technique involves full vertical insertion of all four fingers on a single hand up the the saddle of the thumb. Once all fingers are inserted, the top gently rocks up and down to cause relaxation in the hole.
The Hang Ten Opening This opening technique involves full vertical insertion of three fingers (index/pointer, middle, and ring) up to the saddle of the thumb and the pinky-ring finger saddle (from the top's viewpoint, it appears like the hang ten hand signal). The thumb then massages the taint while the pinky moves back and forth along the upper butt crack. This technique subconsciously induces the desired headspace to accept additional fingers and eventually a full fist.
The Crocker Opening This opening technique involves the use of the The Hang Ten, The Wobbler, The Big Ben, and The Overlay to pop a fisting cherry. Shifting back and forth between the four techniques eventually culminates in an expanded Overlay where the inserted thumb and fingers are pressing outward (similar to The Big Ben. With strategic breathing, pressure, and popper hit, the overlayed hand is quickly but gently extracted as the bulky thenar prominence of the remaining hand slips through the first hole for full penetration.
The Inversion Standard This insertion technique involves inserting the hand upside down so that the thumb and pointer fingers create an inverted valley to glide over the tailbone. The position is awkward for the top but may be easiest for bottoms with prominent tailbones.
The Press Standard This insertion technique involves applying gradual pressure to the hole without retraction or movement until the hole gives in and allows passage. The Press doesn't work on all bottoms and may actually cause discomfort in some who prefers twisting or movement rather than pressure.
The Twist Standard Not to be confused with The Twister, this insertion technique involves spinning or twisting the hand (usually in a goose neck position) during entry to make penetration easier. The Twist doesn't work on all bottoms and may actually cause discomfort in some who prefer pressure rather than movement.
The Locksmith / Skeleton Key Standard Prior to full insertion, the top assesses the hole in order to locate a specific position that allows full penetration with the least amount of effort or discomfort.
The Zero-to-Sixty Advanced The top inserts his hand and proceeds to elbow or shoulder depth within sixty seconds.
The Butt Clock Opening In this opening technique popularized by Dr. Carlton, the top inserts one or two fingers from a single hand into the first hole and presses firmly against the hole for 15 to 30 seconds to trigger muscle relaxation. If the hole is still too tight to accept a fist, the procedure can be repeated on other areas of the first hole to cause full relaxation of sphincter musles.
The Big Ben Opening In this opening technique, the top inserts his one, two, three, or four fingers on both hands into the bottom so that the back of the top's hands are touching each other. The fingers are used to stretch the hole laterally (outward) in opposite directions. The top usually holds the full stretch position for 30 seconds, then rotates clockwise 45 degrees and repeats until he's made the full circle. Bottoms can perform this activity in the shower daily to train the first hole to open for a fist.
The Roll / Compact Parking Only Standard The top initially penetrates the first hole in the goose neck position but collapses or rolls his fingers into a closed fist as the bulkiest part of the palm (thenar prominence) passes through the first hole. This accommodates a shallow rectum.
The Lotus Blossom Advanced Once inside the rectum or colon, the top completely opens up his closed fist to allow for further movement or exploration. In many bottoms, this method of opening the fist is uncomfortable.
The Lotus Transition Standard In this modified Lotus Blossom, the top extracts his palm into the anal canal (and may partially extract it from the hole) before opening his closed fist into an open goose neck position. If done correctly, this method of opening the fist will not cause any discomfort within the bottom.
The Antlers Advanced In this double fisting technique, once both hands are fully in past the anal canal (about two inches up both forearms), the top spreads his hands open wide to form antlers inside the bottom.
The Knotty Boy Advanced The top rotates his closed fist palm down to be parallel to the floor, then abducts (opens his fist wide) before extracting the hand to cause as much tension and friction as possible along the bones of the pelvic outlet and the muscular tissue of the first hole. The expanded hand creates a knot that may lock (or tie itself) within the rectum.
The Goose Punch Advanced In this punching technique, the top uses the gooseneck position to repeatedly pummel the bottom’s hole.
The Boxer Advanced In this punching technique, the top uses a closed fist to punch the hole of the bottom.
The Twister Advanced The top inserts his hand and completes a circular or rotating motion inside the bottom to trigger all the baroreceptors inside the rectum.
The Butter Churn Advanced The top sits and spreads his legs wide open to allow the bottom to position himself between the legs so that the hole is in a butter churn presentation. The top then proceed to punch or piston the hole using a circular or rotating motion inside the bottom to trigger all the baroreceptors inside the rectum.
The Bloomer / Extractor Advanced The top retracts his hand(s) from the bottom at a rapid speed. Often coupled with The Knotty Boy or The Double. The general purpose is to sever or break the connective tissue that prevents anal prolapse.
The Wanderer / Crawl Advanced In this depth technique, the top slowly, sensually, and gradually completes a forward push to obtain forearm-to-shoulder length depth penetration. Usually, there are limited full retractions or pistons during the process.
The Bull & China Shop Advanced In this depth technique, the top proceeds to forearm-, elbow-, bicep- or shoulder-depths at his own pace and speed, typically quite voraciously when compared to The Wanderer / Crawl. Often, a depth session may begin with The Wanderer and end with The Bull.
The Page Turner Standard The top maintains a dry hand to flip through the pages of a porn magazine while fisting the hole with the lubricated, wet hand. This technique also allows the top to strategically touch the bottom's face with a dry hand.
The Puppy Eyes Standard After inserting a hand through the first hole, the top rests his head on the thigh of the bottom while staring into his eyes. This technique typically requires a sling.
The Tug Boat Advanced During deeper exploration into the fist chute, the top uses two fingers to tug down an inaccessible section of the colon. The process may cause temporary discomfort in the bottom.
The Geyser Advanced The top strategically asserts pressure on the bladder to cause urination. Typically, The Twister must be implemented first to discover the specific location that triggers the desired response.
The Milkman Advanced In this variant of The Geyser, the top positions his open palm face up and uses the four fingers to press upward on the cowpers gland, prostate gland, seminal vessicles, and bladder to create an explosion of any of the following: fist nectar, seminal fluid, semen, or piss.
The Infinity Loop Advanced In this combination variant of The Geyser, The Piston, The Goose Neck, and The Twister the top alternates the insertion and retraction of both hands, completing an 180˚ twist at the level of the bladder. The resulting pressure on the bladder cause urination or explusion of fist nectar.
The P Spot Standard The top elevates his middle knuckle and rubs the prostate gland to trigger the expulsion of fist nectar.
The Piston Advanced The top propels and retracts his hand in a forward- backward motion at various speeds and distances. This technique can be employed with traditional, depth, girth, and punch techniques, but is not to be confused with The Earthquake. The Piston typically does not include extraction of the hand from the first hole.
The Expander Advanced After inserting a single hand, the top begins inserting fingers from the second hand through the first hole without the intention of inserting the second hand. Typically the fingers move back and forth or in a circular motion around the wrist so as to stretch various parts of the first hole.
The Strangler Standard After inserting a single hand, the top uses his thumb and fingers to grasp the wrist of the inserted hand (as if strangling the wrist). He then procedes to rotate the inserted hand one direction while rotating the second hand the opposite direction (while it is pressed firmly against the hole). Pressure and movement from the internal and external twist triggers extensive nerve feedback which may result in anal orgasm.
The Double Advanced The top inserts both hands through strategic placement, stretching, and movement.
The Partial Double Advanced The top attempts The Double, but only gets the second hand in to just before the ‘hump’ where the narrowing of the hand occurs.
The Qualified Double Advanced A top with extremely large hands attempts The Double, but only gets the second hand 90% in—with large, normal, or small hands, full doubles would have been acheived.
The Triple Advanced The tops insert three hands with fifteen fingers fully placed inside the bottom’s gaping hole. At least two of the three wrists must be fully inside the hole for this to count as a qualified triple.
The Quad Advanced The tops insert four hands with twenty fingers fully placed inside the bottom’s gaping hole. At least three of the four wrists must be fully inside the hole for this to count as a qualified quad.
The Disaster / Titanic Problematic The top inserts his hand and a dildo (usually a firm one) into the hole alongside his hand. Like the Titanic hitting an iceberg, something is bound to rupture and this time, Rose won’t survive.
The Handshake Advanced Two tops each insert one hand into the bottom simultaneiously. One inserts the left hand while the other the right hand. The hands interlock which essentially creates a hand shake inside the bottom.
Seal Team Five Advanced The top gently inserts his hand to the bottom's desired depth and then violently yanks (or extracts) the hand in either open or closed fist position. Also known as the Extractor or Bloomer because the violent retraction weakens the pelvic floor and helps in rosebud and prolapse developmenmt.
The Safe Cracker Advanced The top inserts his hand after a second top has added the family jewels to the safety deposit box. This involves having a ‘rich’ top with a high tolerance for jewel constriction and a pouch that dangles sufficiently low when the heat is on.
The Full Crowbar Problematic In this depth fisting technique, the top inserts his arm completely but refuses to parallelly align the forearm, upper arm, and shoulder with the bottom, resulting in a prying tension on both the pelvic inlet and outlet. This is typically a novice depth mistake resulting in discomfort and pain for the bottom. Essentially, it is a failure of the top to position his arm for depth fisting.
The Half Crowbar Problematic The top inserts his hand and wrist completely but refuses to align the lower forearm with the bottom, resulting in a prying tension on the bottom’s hole. This is typically a novice mistake resulting in discomfort and pain for the bottom, but when employed by a skilled top, it can result in nirvana.
The Earthquake Standard The top inserts his hand or forearm into the bottom’s hole and repeatedly taps on his elbow to create a trembling motion.
The Agitator Problematic The top inserts a single finger and uses excessive pressure to do absolutely fucking nothing but irritate the bottom. Also known as The Perpetual Lingerer.
The Quarter Pounder Problematic The top inserts his hand but stops 3/4s of the way so that the wrist is not fully subsumed. This technique is often common with both novice bottoms and tops. The bottom is either mentally or physically unable to take the full hand, or the top doesn’t know what the fuck he is doing. In advanced fisting, this technique, combined with the movement of The Twister, can be completely blissful.
The Tonya Harding Problematic While the X or Boomer is either topping or bottoming, they discuss topics for which the Millennial and post-Millennial are completely clueless. This is the inverse technique of The OK Boomer.
The OK Boomer Problematic While the Millennial and post Millennial is either topping or bottoming, they discuss topics for which the Boomer or X’r are completely clueless. This is the inverse technique of The Tonya Harding. Label abandonment and label shunning also seem prevalent with this technique.
