Executive Summary

Extensive procedural guide of application techniques—including external and internal application methods. Review of protocols, best practices, myths/misconceptions, and advice from experts.

Modalities

Application modality refers to the primary method of application during a session. It usually correlates to the type of fisting associated with the particular session. For example, for depth play, there is often an injection modality where a larger volume of lube is injected into the hole to help lubricate the upper fist chute.

There are two application modalities:

  • External / Topical | Involves applying lube to the hand or to the periphery of the hole and then massaging the lubrication into the channel of the fist chute.
  • Internal / Injection | Involves one of three strategies: pouring lube directly into a gape; funneling lube into the rectum through an artificial gape; or using a tool to inject lube into the upper or lower fist chute.

The modality in use dictates the tools and techniques used during lubrication application.

Figure 1.1 [ A - B ]: External and Internal Modalities

The difference in application modality is based solely upon the initial "landing point" of lube. [ A ] External application refers to the paw or the hole. [ B ] Internal application refers to the lumen (inside) of the fist chute.

Protocols

Protocols include standard practices and etiquette followed by the majority of the fisting community. Typically, these are things that new fisters pick up over time.

Etiquette

Etiquette refers to how you treat others in a specific fisting scenario. There are three etiquette guidelines related to gloves.

Etiquette Explained

Who: Top

When: Throughout Session

What: Lubrication Application

As a top, it is best to adopt a "No Questions Asked" policy regarding lube application. This means, if the bottom asks for more lube, go ahead and add it.

Keep in mind the following:

  • Virgin and novice fisting tops are often adollopers. They rely on previous dick-in-ass experiences in reference to lube usage. That is to say, they apply enough lube for fucking, but not for fisting.
  • Hirsute men (those very hairy, god-like men) require additional lube, especially if their hair is coarse. A bottom can feel the hair, and it may be agitating or pleasurable. Excess lube can address this issue.
  • While the skin on the inside of the hole lacks neurons that can detect moisture, the outside of the hole can detect it, so it is helpful to apply lube to the ass lips and perianal area, so that the bottom mentally detects application. Applying lube to the hand only may leave the bottom with the impression that you didn't apply enough lube.

Anecdotal Narrative

Hairy Arm
Figure 2.1: Furry Arms

Additional coatings of lube may reduce agitation with coarse, furry arms.

He stuck out his arm to hold the elevator for me. It was furry as fuck, and my cock stirred a little. I thought to myself, if only he were gay, a fister, and had that arm up inside me. The doors closed and I pressed 3.

We both got off at the same floor and made our way down the corridor. "Was he headed the same place I was?" I thought. "If only I be so lucky." At the end of the corridor, we both turned the same direction. As we approached the door, I decided to speak up.

"You must be Brody?" I asked.

"And you Finn. I've heard about your hole from Brad" he responded and followed up with "I can't wait to get my arm into you!"

We knocked on the door, entered, and promptly undressed.

"You think you can handle my hairy arm?"

"Have you ever scrubbed lube off your elbow?" I replied.

"That deep, eh? Truth is, I haven't been that deep. It's gonna be a bitch to wash out this fur—but well worth it."

I hopped in the spare sling, and he applied lube to his hand and wrist.

"I'm deep within seconds, apply a little higher." I requested.

"Got it!" he said, spreading lube to his mid-forearm.

"You're gonna need it a little higher with that first push."

He somewhat reluctantly added more lube to just short of his elbow and said, "Let's do this!"

His small hand slid in with ease and his eyes bulged as his arm kept disappearing. I felt the moment we crossed the event horizon—the non-lubricated skin just shy of the elbow. He pulled back and indicated he would reapply, but much higher.

"Just keep going as is. I've been fantasizing about that furry pit at my hole's edge since the elevator." I grunted. I could feel each dry hair, tickling my ass lips as he sunk deeper, and the feeling was magnificent.

Sadly, we didn't make it past the upper bicep even after recoating, but it was a glorious experience being ravaged by a furry bastard.

Etiquette Explained

Who: Top

When: In Group Sessions

What: Lubrication Cleanup

In group play, tops should practice good hygiene and wash hands (and pricks) thoroughly between bottoms. This prevents the spread of STIs such as Gonorrhea, Hepatitis C, Shigella, and HPV. If using lipid- or PEO-based lubrication, three to five minutes of hand washing is necessary.

If engaging multi-bottom activities such as chariot fisting, double-decker fisting, and fisty-nine plus one, validate with bottoms their contamination protocols. Acquire consent to forego handwashing in these activities.

Anecdotal Narrative

Shigella Bacteria
Figure 2.2: Spreading Shigella

Shigella adheres easily to lube and can remain alive outside for several weeks, so transmission between bottoms is likely if correct hygiene practices are not followed.

Eric mistakenly grabbed an old bottle of lube from the fridge as he rushed out the door to a Friday night fist party.

Unfortunately, the lube had been colonized by Shigella, and Eric reported symptoms within 24 hours. Even though he was vigilant about not sharing lube, he was unsure if all the guests washed hands thoroughly between bottoms.

To be safe, the party organizers alerted the attendees, and everyone monitored for symptoms.

Standard Practices

Standard Practices refers to common sense behaviors related to fisting activities. There are four standard practices related to gloves.

Practices Explained

Who: Top (Primarily)

When: Throughout Session

What: Lubrication Application

Before starting a session, clarify your partner’s containment policy. He may prefer to keep lube limited to an isolated area surrounding the hole, especially if he is anywhere on the autism spectrum.

Having lube spread all over his body may make him uncomfortable and cause his hole to be less welcoming.

One major reason why a top is not invited to play again is because "he gets lube everywhere!"

Anecdotal Narrative

Lube Everywhere!
Figure 2.3: Sticky Bodies

Being smothered in lube can be highly erotic or highly distracting.

Erastus, a fellow Mormon, invited me over to his flat to play one evening. I jumped at the chance. Mormon boys are either really very wild or really very mild—it's usually the former, rather than the 'L'atter.

It was a very erotic and rewarding session. Upon meeting, we had instant connection. We fucked. We fisted. We played deep and wide. We discussed our kink yums and our kink yucks. We matched in many ways including our piss preferences and lube practices.

"While I prefer getting soaked with piss from head to toe, I hate getting lube anywhere outside the circle of life" he said.

"Circle of life?" I responded.

"That's what I call the lube perimeter around my hole." He replied. "Most often, its radius is no more than 15 cm from my cunt."

"So, more so a circle of lube than the circle of life. I thought you were going all Mufasa on me." I laughed.

To my inquiry, he responded "Potato, po-tah-to — tomato, to-mah-to. Lube and life — it's all the same when it comes to fisting."

"I think my circle is even smaller than yours is. I wear a tight jock when bottoming because I hate getting lube on my balls. It freaks me out." I said.

The conversation and fisting continued. My ball sack remained free of lube and dry until we started dousing each other with piss.

"I am playing with my Dutch friend tomorrow. You are welcome to come back and join us."

"I'd love to!" I responded.

"I can tell you now though, that your circle of life will be violated. He uses lube liberally, and you will finish coated in his signature FFlexiglaze lube. He's good though, it's worth it."

The following eve I returned to play with the Mormon and the Dutchman. True to form, every centimeter of my body was sticky or piss saturated. Never before had I enjoyed such a violation of my circle, and I jump at every chance I get to play with either guy to this day.

Techniques and Guides

The following instructional guide(s) will help you:

  • Procedure...

    Apply the Base Coat

Steps / Procedure

For sessions without rimming, apply a high-viscosity, oil-based layer of lube (base coat) just after douching and again prior to play. For sessions that will include rimming, apply the base coat prior to inserting the first fist.

  1. Place a spoon-sized dollop (10 - 15 ml) of lube on your index and middle fingers.
    Lubrication Dollop
Step 1: Dollop of Base Coat
  2. Firmly press the dollop onto the orifice and verge of the hole.
    Orifice Application
Step 2: Orifice & Verge Application
  3. Gently quiver the fingers for 3-5 seconds to decrease vagal nerve sensitivity.
     -
    Step 3: Gentle Quiver
  4. With one or two fingers (depending on the responsivity of the hole), slowly push the dollop into the anal canal and make 3-4 semi-lunar passes to coat either the left or right side the hole.

Repeat with a second dollop for the opposite, unlubricated side of the hole.

     -
    Step 4: Semi-lunar Passes
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 several times—going deeper with each repetition—until the anal canal and lower rectum are fully coated.
SUPPLIES
  • Highly viscous oil-based lube
  • Nitrile glove (optional)
 -
Figure 3.1: Spreadability Factor of Base Coats

Whipped Crisco or petrolatum make ideal base coats because they spread with ease—making the process quick and efficient. Solid lubes, such as Crisco, are more difficult to apply.

Additional Insights

When using highly viscous lubes during a session, always separate what you expect to use from your source container prior to play. This prevents double-dipping which can contaminate your lube.

If you are the bottom, consider applying your own base coat. Self-application decreases vagal nerve overstimulation as well as unnecessary wear on the hole. Apply with a nitrile glove that is discarded after the base coat is applied. This will keep your hand oil free for the remainder of the session.

If using lubes that are solid at body temperature such as Crisco, melt the lube into a cream by rubbing a dollop together in your hands. See initial applications of solid lubrications.

Remember: firmly, gently, and slowly. Abrupt and jarring movements are undesirable and can cause the hole to close up rather than open.

  • Procedure...

Apply an Initial Coat of Lube (Liquids / Moderate Viscosity)

Steps / Procedure

Although this procedure can be used with lower viscosity silicone and glycerine-based lubes, it is more economical to use alphabet (PEO-based) lubes.

  1. Squeeze or pour at least 50 mL (3 tablespoons) of lube above the hole and let it drizzle down to coat/cover the hole:
    • For supine fisting (bottom is on his back), apply your initial volume of lube mid-taint.
    • For prone fisting (bottom is on stomach or knees), apply your initial volume of lube at the top of the ass crack.
    Drizzle and Drip
    Step 1: Drizzle and Drip
  2. After the lube has dripped down over the entire anal orifice and verge (the opening of the hole), use the back of your fingers to catch the drizzle and gently spread the lube over the anal margin, taint, and full crack.
    Spread and Disperse
    Step 2: Spread and Disperse
  3. Squeeze or pour another 50 mL (3 tablespoons) of lube onto the bottom a few centimeters (1 inch) above that of your original pour. Then allow it to drizzle down the coat the hole.
  4. After the lube has drizzled down over the orifice, gently spread the lube over the anal margin, taint, and full crack with the front of your fingers and the sides of your hand.
    Increased Dispersion
    Step 4: Increased Dispersion
  5. Squeeze or pour another 25 ml (~2 tablespoons) of lube onto your dry hand and haphazardly disperse it to fully coat the skin on both hands with lube.
  6. Do not rub the lube deep into your skin (like lotion). Leave it globby and runny to transfer onto the hole.
  7. Apply another 25 ml (~2 tablespoons) to the crevice and work it into the hole with one, two, or more fingers based on the responsiveness of the hole.

Repeat as needed until you pop the fist into the hole.

    Hole Saturation
    Step 6: Hole Saturation
SUPPLIES
  • Moderate viscosity lube
  • High viscosity base coat (optional)
 -
Figure 3.2: Slow, Gentle Petting Motions

A cat and a hole are similar: both like to be petted gently, and jarring movements spook them. Slow gentle movements can spread lube evenly across the hole and the hand/arm.

 -
Figure 3.3: Lubrication Swirl Ensures Excessive Coverage

Applying lube to your hand as if you were swirling hot fudge on a scoop of ice cream demonstrates high lube competency and ensures the hole and hand are fully coated.

Additional Insights

This application method has been nicknamed "petting the pussy" because the motions and intensity of touch is similar to that of petting a cat. Excessive pressure and rapid, stumbling motion are jarring to both a pussy (cat) and a pussy (hole). Soft, gentle strokes will demonstrate lube competency and put the bottom at ease.

  • Procedure...

Apply an Initial Coat of Lube (Creams / High Viscosity)

Steps / Procedure

  1. Rub a 15 ml (tablespoon) dollop of your cream lube thoroughly into your hands like hand-lotion.
    Lotion Dispersal
    Step 1: Application as Lotion
  2. Scoop a moderate size dollop onto your index and middle finger and apply exteriorly to the verge and orifice in a circular motion.
    Verge Application
    Step 2: Verge Application
  3. Add a third finger to the scoop and repeat as needed until the external skin of the anal and fisting margins are fully saturated with small ridges of lube remaining on the skin within the margins.
    Spread and Disperse
    Step 3: Fisting Margin Application
  4. Assess the hole for openness:

    • If open, scoop a 10 mL (heaping teaspoon) dollop onto your index and middle fingers and press into the hole.
    • If closed, insert a single finger with a small dollop and press into the hole.
    Hole Assessment
    Step 4: Hole Assessment
  5. Continue applying lube while performing the butt clock maneuver until you pop the hole.
    Spread and Disperse
    Step 5: Butt Clocking
SUPPLIES
  • High viscosity cream, such as Elbow Grease©
Signs of an Open Hole
Figure 3.4: Signs of an Open Hole

Open holes are responsive to the touch—allowing multiple fingers to enter without resistance.

Additional Insights

When using highly viscous lubes during a session, always separate what you expect to use from your source container prior to play. This prevents double-dipping which can contaminate your lube.

  • Procedure...

Apply an Initial Coat of Lube (Solids / Non-liquids)

Steps / Procedure

  1. With your fingers, lubed prick, or moist tongue, massage the anal verge and orifice for 90 seconds to achieve partial relaxation.
    Lotion Dispersal
    Step 1: Trigger Partial Relaxation
  2. Place a large dollop (30 mL | 2 tablespoons) of solid lube into the palm of your hand. Rub your hands together until the lube melts into a cream.

Use this cream to thoroughly coat both hands entirely as if the lube were hand-lotion.

    Lotion Dispersal
    Step 2: Melt Solid Lubes
  3. Melt another large dollop of lube by rubbing hands together, leaving the melted, excess lube to gather into ripples on your hands.
    Verge Application
    Step 3: Lube Caching
  4. Gather the melted, creamy lube onto your index and middle fingers.
    Spread and Disperse
    Step 4: Conglomerate Lube
  5. Follow the procedures for applying high viscosity creams into the hole.
SUPPLIES
  • Solid lube (Crisco©)
  • Nitrile gloves (optional)
 -
Figure 3.5: Lube Container

A separate lube bowl will prevent contaminating your source lube with fecal bacteria from the hole.

Additional Insights

Lubes that are solid at body temperature (37˚ C | 98.6˚ F) are challenging if a hole hasn't had any type of warm-up. Try a toy or prick with traditional lubes to relax the first ring prior to the application of your solid lube.

Frozen lubes can physically damage the hole if not applied correctly. See Administer Lube Cubes for instruction on inserting frozen lubes into the fist chute.

When using highly viscous lubes during a session, always separate what you expect to use from your source container prior to play. This prevents double-dipping which can contaminate your lube.

  • Procedure...

Insert Solid Lubes into the Hole

Steps / Procedure

  1. Follow the steps for applying an initial coat of solid lube.
  2. Place a large dollop (30 mL | 2 tablespoons) of solid lube into the index and middle fingers of your dominant hand.

Spread the cheeks apart with the thumb and index finger of your dominant hand.

    Lotion Dispersal
    Step 2: Exposed Hole
  3. Press the lube into the exposed, stretched hole with the dominant hand.

Use the non-dominant hand to catch and insert remnants.

Repeat steps 2 and 3 to add a second dollop into the hole.

    Verge Application
    Step 3: Stuffed Hole
  4. Press and knead the solid lube within the hole until it melts and disperses throughout the rectum.
    Spread and Disperse
    Step 4: Internal Massage
SUPPLIES
  • Solid lube (Crisco©)
  • Nitrile gloves (optional)
QUICK REFERENCE

  • Procedure...

Funnel Lube into a Partial Gape

Steps / Procedure

  1. Determine the gape capability of your partner.

    • No Ability to Gape | Regardless of any fisting activity, the first ring and anal canal remain collapsed.
    • Forced Ability to Gape (Patial) | Prying or applying pressure to the wall of the first ring and anal canal exposes a hollow opening.
    • Natural Ability to Gape (Full Gape) | Without manipulation, the first ring and anal canal expand to reveal a cavernous, hollow, rectum.

Complete the remaining steps only if your partner has a partial gape.

    Determine Capacity to Gape
    Step 1: Determine Capability
  2. Pump some air into the rectum with shallow pistoning of a cupped duckbill (to catch and transports air).
    Expand with Air
    Step 2: Introduce Air
  3. Once sufficient air has been pumped into your partner (and a gape begins to appear alongside your partially inserted hand), insert your hand two thirds of the way into your partner's hole.

Turn your partially collapsed palm up to create a runoff valley.

    Lotion Dispersal
    Step 3: Create Funnel
  4. Squeeze or pour 50 - 100 ml (1/4 to 1/2 cup) of lube into the runoff valley of your palm.
    Lotion Dispersal
    Step 4: Fill Hole
  5. Dam or block the exposed end of the valley with your thumb or thenar prominence of your free hand.
    Lotion Dispersal
    Step 5: Loss Prevention
  6. Push the partially inserted hand completely into the hole.
    Lotion Dispersal
    Step 6: Full Insertion
SUPPLIES
  • At least 50 mL (1/3 cup) of moderately viscous lube.
 -
Figure 3.7: Gaping Holes Provide Easy Access

Holes that naturally gape make funneling lube easy. Natural gapes may occur because of positioning or by sucking air into the rectum.

Additional Insights

Pumping air into a hole to allow for a gape or partial gape can result in air trapped deep within the upper fist chute. Yoga and specific expulsion techniques can release this gas after a session is over.

If your partner cannot gape or partially gape, revert to either external application modalities or internal injection modalities.

If your partner has a natural full gape, funneling lube is unnecessary. Instead, squeeze or pour lube directly into the gape.

  • Procedure...

Apply Lube with a Single Hand (Vat / Basin)

Steps / Procedure

  1. Position the lube-filled vat or basin directly below the hole to allow excess lube to drip back into the vat after application.
    Lotion Dispersal
    Step 1: Vat Placement
  2. Dip the penetrative hand completely into the basin until both sides of the hand are fully coated with lube.

Scoop a handful of lube into your cupped hand.

    Lotion Dispersal
    Step 2: Hand Preparation
  3. Pour the scooped lube 5 cm (2 inches) above the hole so that the excess lube drips down over the taint and hole.
    Lotion Dispersal
    Step 3: Lube Application
  4. Use the front, back, and sides of your hand to spread lube around the hole (including the entire fisting margin), then gradually insert fingers based on openness.

Repeat steps as needed to apply additional lube from the basin.

    Lotion Dispersal
    Step 4: Peak Saturation
SUPPLIES
  • Lube collection/dispersion vat or basin
  • Moderately viscous lube
 -
Figure 3.8: Lube Basins Remove Bottle Barriers

A strategically placed lube basin placed below the bottom can eliminate the use of lube bottles for application.

Additional Insights

Start with a small volume of lube in your vat or catch basin. After you determine there is no need for touch-ups, add more lube to the basin.

  • Procedure...

Apply Lube with a Single Hand (Bidon / Bottle)

Steps / Procedure

  1. Identify the hand used for penetration.

Align the forearm and the duckbilled, collapsed paw at a 90˚ to 100˚ angle with the floor.

    Lotion Dispersal
    Step 1: Arm Alignment
  2. Using the non-penetrative hand, grab the squeeze bidon and apply lube to the penetrative hand using a circular motion.

Encircle the hand multiple times starting at the fingertips and going to the base of the hand.

    Lotion Dispersal
    Step 2: Hand Saturation
  3. Pour approximately 50 mL (3 tablespoons) just above the hole so that it drips down to coat the orifice and verge.

    • For supine fisting (on one's back, typically on a sling or flat surface), drizzle the lube mid-taint.
    • For prone fisting (face down on one's knees), drizzle the lube at the top of the crack.
    Lotion Dispersal
    Step 3: Hole Application
  4. Glide the lubricated along the ass crack, distributing the lube on the hand and the lube on the hole evenly.

Rotate and alter your hand position (palm-to-side, side-to-back, back-to-side) gently along the ass crack until the fisting margin is fully coated with lube.

    Lotion Dispersal
    Step 4: Peak Saturation
  5. Apply another dollop to both the hand and the hole, then insert fingers one-by-one, reapplying lube as necessary.

    Lotion Dispersal
    Step 5: Inner Coating
SUPPLIES
  • Very squeezable lube bottle
  • Moderately viscous lube
 -
Figure 3.9: Dry Hand Activities

A dry hand can be used to caress specific body parts, such as the chest, thigh, or jaw, to release endorphins and oxytocin.

Additional Insights

This dispersion of lube on the exterior surfaces of the ass has been nicknamed "petting the pussy" because the motions and intensity of touch is similar to that of petting a cat. Excessive pressure and rapid, stumbling motion are jarring to both a pussy (cat) and a pussy (hole). Soft, gentle strokes will demonstrate lube competency and put the bottom at ease.

Single hand application typically requires a flexible squeeze bottle with a moderately viscous lubrication. While solid lubes can be applied with a single hand, obtaining full coverage is tedious and difficult. Likewise, low viscosity lubes are also difficult unless a vat or basin is used.

  • Procedure...

Trigger the Second Hole for Depth Advances

Procedure

Prerequisites

This procedure works best with moderate and advanced holes that demonstrate at least one of these characteristics:

  • Gape | Gaping holes are indicative of hollow rectums and easy access to the second hole.
  • Elongated Rectum | When a fully extended, non-curved hand fits within the lower fist chute with ease, this indicates the Houston folds have been diminished, and the second hole is no longer hidden by natural bends in the pelvic cavity.
  • Straightened Fist Chute | Like the elongated rectum, a straightened chute indicates the second hole and upper fist chute have migrated to a position suitable for depth play.
  • Responsive Second Hole | Responsivity is gauged by simple touch and limited massage. Second holes that open to this type/level of manipulation will respond to lube injections.

Steps

  1. Ensure the first hole is relaxed and the lower fist chute is sufficiently lubricated.
  2. Locate and massage the second hole, verifying it is easily accessible and not hidden.
  3. Adjust the position of the bottom so that gravity will assist in drawing lube upward (into the gut) rather than downward (onto the floor).

     -
     -
     -
     -
    Figure 3.10 [ A - D ]: Viable and Non-viable Positions for Lube Injection

To prevent lube from exiting rather than remaining within the fist chute, the bottom can assume various application positions. Lube that pools near the second hole triggers specific physiological responses that assist in depth gains.

  4. Rapidly administer a large volume of lube (at least 125 ml [1/2 cup]).

    • For gaping and funnel holes, pour lube into the hole from a bidon/bottle or inject with an injection tool.
    • For non-gaping holes, squeeze the lube into the hole with the injection tool.

Depending on the size and firmness of your injection tool, lube may be administered with the hand/fist inside or outside of the hole.

Do not insert firm, non-collapsable objects into the hole alongside a hand or arm. This can easily cause perforation.
  5. Continue depth insertion once the fist chute and second hole both begin to open due to the lube pooling.
SUPPLIES
  • Bidon/Bottle (for bottom's that gape)
  • Injection tool (for any bottom)
  • Lube basin or lube catch (optional)
  • Alphabet or polysaccharide-based lube
 -
Figure 3.11: Soft and Pliable Injection Tools

Soft injection tools, like a collapsible calf feeder, can rapidly deliver large volumes of lube.

Additional Insights

Rapid delivery of lube that pools at the second hole or just beyond the second hole triggers a natural reflex that draws fluid upward into the gut. If the second hole is relaxed enough through massage and poppers, further depth into the upper fist chute is often obtainable.

Avoid stems longer than 10 cm (4 inches) top prevent accidental perforations.

With collapsable, short injection tools, the hand can be inserted first, and the injector can be inserted alongside it to prevent lube loss from inserting or extracting a hand.

  • Procedure...

Inject Lube into the Upper Fist Chute

Steps / Procedure

  1. Ensure the first hole is relaxed and the lower fist chute is sufficiently lubricated.
  2. Locate and massage the second hole, verifying it is easily accessible, properly aligned, and at least partially open.
  3. Adjust the position of the bottom so that gravity will assist in drawing lube upward.
  4. Insert the tool into the chute and feed it approximately 20 to 30 cm [8 to 12 inches] deep.

If necessary, the hand can be inserted after the tool's insertion to verify it has passed through the second hole and entered the upper fist chute. Remove the hand prior to lube injection.

    Lotion Dispersal
    Step 4: Lor Ipsum

Deep insertion of narrow-diameter tubing or stems introduces a high perforation risk:

    • Never use firm stems and tubing, including PVC tubing purchased at a hardware store.
    • Only use tubing or tools that can easily collapse under minimal pressure.

Consult with enema supply vendors regarding appropriate injection tools.

     -
     -
     -
    Figure 3.12 [ A - C ]: Deep Injection Tools

Deep injection comes with elevated risk. Soft tools minimize the chance of perforations. Firm tubing should never be used.

  5. Inject the lube and withdraw the injection tool.
SUPPLIES
  • Deep injection tool
  • Lube basin or lube catch (optional)
  • Alphabet or polysaccharide-based lube
 -
Figure 3.13: Diminished Thickness of Lining

The upper fist chute has a higher probability of perforation by firm foreign objects due to decreased thickness of the colon walls.

Additional Insights

Colon snakes with bore holes can also be used for deep lube injections. Elongated douche nozzles are also an option if they can be connected to the source reservoir.

Any type of tubing is likely to introduce air into to fist chute. A bottom should be familiar with air removal procedures after fisting to prevent discomfort.

Using the physiological reflex that naturally draws lube into the upper fist chute is a safer alternative than delivering lube via tube, colon snake, or douche nozzle. See Trigger the Second Hole for Depth Advances for further instruction.

  • Procedure...

    Decrease Lube Loss After Injections

Steps / Procedure

  1. Before administering lube, identify the keyhole or penetration strategy that requires the least amount of time and effort spent passing through the first hole.
  2. Elevate the first hole so that gravity assists rather than hinders lube retention.
  3. Complete standard warm-up and first ring penetration so that the hole is relaxed and does not require excessive manipulation for entry (after the injection in the following step).
  4. Inject the lube through the hole and cinch the first hole upon extraction of the lubrication tool.
  5. Coordinate insertion so that the bottom releases the cinch as the top performs the penetration strategy at the keyhole.
 -
Figure 3.14: Least Resistance

Lube is lost when a top spends unnecessary time attempting penetration. The route of least resistance can be communicated by comparing entrance angles to positions on a clock.

SUPPLIES
  • Lube basin or catch (optional)
VOCABULARY

Keyhole

  1. Noun The precise position the hand must be placed in outside the first hole so that penetration can occur with minimal effort or strain to the bottom. Often refers to an optimized alignment of movement, timing, and orientation that facilitates smooth access or activation.

Some amount of lube, especially using the pooling method, is likely to escape. Using a lube basin or drip pan will collect the lube for re-use within the session.

VOCABULARY

Lube Cube

  1. Noun A frozen 'dose' of fisting lubricant, typically shaped using an ice cube tray or mold, used for soothing relief or deeper lube delivery.
 -
Figure 3.15: Frost Bite / Freezer Burn

Frost bite, most commonly seen with fingers and toes, can occur within minutes within the fist chute. Allow lube cubes to melt prior to insertion of additional cubes.

Additional Insights

Crisco and many shortenings do not melt at body temperature. A frozen Crisco ball will warm up to 37˚ C (98.6˚ F) but will not melt further unless manipulated by mechanical energy.

Frozen lube can damage the mucosal tissue of the rectum without the bottom being aware of damage occurring. The nerves of the rectum can sense cold but cannot feel pain like the nerves of the skin can. Be careful to avoid burning the tissue of the hole by manipulating the cubes often after they are inserted into the hole.

Best Practices

While application of lube is very personalized, implementing several best practices can extend play time, decrease wear and tear on the hole, and increase the intensity of play.

General Methodologies

Implementing good technique while applying lube puts the bottom at ease. This allows for deeper connection and greater intensity while playing. Novice tops, non-intuitive tops, and disengaged tops are easily spotted by their sub-standard lube application techniques.

Base Coating

Decreasing Wear on the Hole by Applying Lube Barriers
VOCABULARY

Base Coat

  1. Noun Hydrophobic lube applied to the anal canal and lower fist chute prior to full penetration or application of a hydrophilic lube such as X Lube.

Applying a hydrophobic base coat to the anal canal and lower rectum decreases discomfort as well as damage to the most vulnerable mucosal tissue.

Not all hydrophobic lubes provide the same level of protection. Solid petroleum distillates, such as petrolatum (Vaseline), or shortening (Crisco) have greater protective benefits than liquid oils and silicone.

A small dollop applied just before penetration by either the top or by the bottom ensures there is little interference with rimming.

The base coat doesn't have to be applied by the top. In fact, the bottom can apply this coat with his index finger. Self-application is less likely to trigger vagal nerve response that causes the hole to cinch down and close.

If you are averse to getting lipids or petroleum distillates on your hands for the purpose of base coating, use a glove for the application of these lubes. Remove the glove when you switch to your less viscous lube (FFäusten, for example).

Synchronized Application

Applying Lube During Popper Inhalation and After Short Breaks

While you can add lube at any time, major reapplications that involve withdrawing the fist from the fist chute are best done with some coordination between partners.

For example, it is infuriating to a bottom to take a hit of poppers only for its effects to dissipate while a top takes his time to reapply lube. A better outcome occurs when the top applies lube just as the bottom reaches for the popper bottle—not after he inhales. It is helpful to prompt the bottom to hold off on inhalation until your hand is recoated and additional lube is added to the orifice (the outside) of the hole.

As a reminder, not all popper hits require lube reapplication; however, most short breaks almost always require reapplication of lube.

Figure 4.1: Coordinated Popper Hits

Insert or reapply lube prior to a popper hit to avoid wasting the relaxation effects of the nitrites.

Consistent Lubricity

Rehydrating PEO-based and PG-based Lubricants

Due to human physiology and physics, PEO and PG lubes dry out. Rehydration is done through reapplication of more lube, by misting via a spray bottle, or by adding water via a secondary bidon. Use of a secondary bidon (to add water or a large volume of lube) can be either helpful or problematic due to the nature of the human body.

Image Description in Title Case
Figure 4.2: Misting Improves Lubricity

Using a spray bottle to mist the arm, hole, and fisting margin can decrease drag and discomfort.

There are multiple physiologic sphincters in the upper fist chute. These sphincters are not true sphincters (like the first hole); rather, they work to prevent leakage by pulling water further back into the colon. When fluid hits these pseudo-sphincters, reverse peristalsis carries the fluid up the intestine for absorption. Inserting excess lube or water can therefore result in a few unexpected outcomes:

  • Clean-out Problems | If fluid is carried into a segment that didn't have a full clean-out, then newly hydrated fecal material may begin migrating down the fist chute.
  • Health Concerns | If fluid reaches typically non-accessible segments of the large intestine (the transverse and ascending colons), lubrication may be absorbed more readily into the lymphatic and circulatory systems. Lube in lower segments of the large intestine such as the upper fist chute (descending and sigmoid colons) and lower fist chute (rectum and anus/anal canal) lack the same capacity to absorb the sugars, toxins, and fat molecules in lubrication.
  • Motility Assistance | Reverse peristalsis can actually be beneficial. Some tops report that certain depth bottoms 'suck in' their paws as lube is drawn up into the upper fist chute.

Use caution in introducing excessive amounts of water (or lube) to the fist chute of your partner until you know how his body reacts to that type of rehydration.

Hygienic Compliance

Practicing Hygienic Principles Continuously

Instinctively following good hygiene practices demonstrates advanced fisting skills:

  • Pre-play Handwashing | Washing up prior to starting play decreases infections from microbial organisms from the environment.
  • Lube Containment | Keeping lube in the play area decreases property damage, irritation of hosts, and cleanup time.
  • Cross Contamination | Washing hands and cocks between partners prevents spreading STIs.

Session Contamination

Reducing Microbial and Contaminant Transfer

During play, there are a few strategies you can use to decrease exposure to micro-organisms. First, if you have prepared a large batch of lube, store your extra bottles away from the play area. If you run out of lube in your current bottle, you can fetch the spare from the kitchen or storage refrigerator. Second, wrap your lube in a paper towel, so that your dirty hands are not in direct contact with the lube container. And finally, avoid touching the lube container to the hole.

For cream lubes like Elbow Grease, Slam Dunk, and Crisco, do not double dip. Before your session starts, prepare a small cup or Tupperware™ container with the amount of lube you need so that you are not sticking a dirty paw into a full container of untainted lube.

Like preparation, these mitigation practices are limited in effectiveness. Lube tends to get everywhere during a session, and containers are easily contaminated.

Paper towel as a Wrap
Figure 4.3: No Direct Contact

Wrapping your lube dispenser with paper towels or socks keeps tainted lube from contacting non-tainted lube. This strategy isn't foolproof but may reduce the number of bacteria exposed to your lube during play.

Myths and Misconceptions

Rather than ignorance and malice, most application myths and misconceptions are rooted in common sense or well-intentioned logic.

These myths typically arise from assumptions that feel intuitively correct, yet fail to account for the complexities of physiology, depth play, or the unique characteristics and qualities of individual holes. Some misconceptions can lead to risky behaviors or counterproductive outcomes.

Shortcuts / Cheat Codes
Claims or Assumptions

Injecting lube into the upper fist chute is the secret to faster development of depth capabilities.

Injecting large volumes of lube will make depth gains quicker.

Reality

There are no shortcuts for gaining depth. Excessive lube and deep lube injection are not replacements for regular conditioning. Sustained depth gains, especially those that occur near or beyond the elbow, require a lot of play over a long period of time (typically years).

Injecting lube into the upper fist chute gives false courage.

Remediation

Focus on regular and consistent play with a moderate amount of drag-eliminating lube rather than deep injections as a shortcut. Focus on regular massage of the second hole to trigger relaxation rather than excessive lube as its trigger. For additional information, see:

Perforation Prevention
Claims or Assumption

I won't perforate if I use a lot of lube.

Reality

Perforations can happen at any time. While a well lubricated hole decreases perforation risk, it can provide false courage and encourage pressing limits—especially in inexperienced depth players.

Remediation

Do not use lube as a safeguard for perforation. Always discuss your hole's abilities with your top before play to prevent unnecessary risk taking. For additional information, see:

Additives and Enhanced Lube
Claims or Assumptions

Additives, such as numbing agents, are beneficial.

Using my lube and its special additives on my partner will definitely open him up better!

Reality

While numbing agents may extend play, they can also mask damage and cause health issues. Certain additives, like Voltaren cream, can cause kidney damage.

Additionally, numbing additives prevent natural pain mechanisms from warning you of injury.

When a bottom's hole isn't familiar with special additives like clove, lavender, or numbing creams, exposure to these agents can cause the hole to induce expulsion reflexes or even close up completely.

Remediation

Familiarize yourself with overdose symptoms for lidocaine. Avoid the use of acetaminophen containing additives (such as Voltaren). Study the potential health consequences of any lubrication additive.

Recognize that unfamiliar lube can shut down a hole rather than open it, so plan 'lube experimentation' strategically. Avoid new lubes at events and parties to ensure you can bottom for the duration of the event.

For moderate and advanced fisters, using a familiar lube with the right viscosity, lubricity, and consistency enables them to focus on relaxation instead of new sensations triggered by lube. For additional information, see:

Sufficiency / Insufficiency
Claims or Assumptions

He's already got enough lube inside him, so I will hold back when he asks for more!

Reality

Novice, inexperienced, and over-confident tops are prone to making lube assessments for the bottom. There may be ten gallons of lube in the hole, but if the bottom says there isn't enough, re-apply. A request typically indicates the bottom is experiencing discomfort. Further investigation is needed after applying fresh lube.

Remediation

Often, a request for additional lube from a bottom indicates a deficiency in technique by the top. For additional information, see:

Increasing Session Duration with Base Coating

Layering different types of lubes is an effective strategy to increase slippage, reduce friction irritation, and extend the length of play. A base coat of Crisco or Elbow Grease fully saturated into the lining of a hole and the skin of an arm is a good way to start before adding a thick alphabet lube. The extra slippage between the layers of lube decreases wear and tear on the hole. The thicker the lube is mixed, the longer the separation between layers is maintained.

Eventually the lube will all mix together, but the effect can be re-created by adding more Elbow Grease as the lube thickens and the hole absorbs water, coating the hole again before switching back to an alphabet lube. This type of thing isn’t necessary for shorter sessions of around 20 minutes but can be very helpful for sessions of 2-3 hours with minimal breaks needed.

Decreasing Waste and Preventing Contamination in Large Groups

At the parties I host, I provide a couple gallon tubs of Crisco, an ice cream scoop, and bowls. A few years ago, I switched from 12 oz bowls to 6 oz (and compostable!) ones because I noticed the amount of wasted Crisco. Guys would mound the lube in the bowl and only go through 1/3 of it. Half-sized bowl equals 2/3 less waste and cuts the party costs as well.

Keeping One Hand Dry for Ulterior Motives

When I first hit puberty and found gay porn, it was long before the digital age. I needed lube to masturbate but wanted to keep my magazines dry so that they would last longer. I learned how to bate with a lubed left hand, while keeping my right hand dry to flip the pages of my magazines.

I eventually imported this practice into fisting. By developing and learning a technique to saturate my hand and even my arm using his well lubricated ass crack, I'm able to keep my right hand free to administer more lube, fast forward the porn playing on my TV, and most importantly, touch my bottom's body and face without getting him sticky and coated in lube.

You'll need to practice but start by coating his crack with an abundance of lube. Always apply the lube above his hole, so that gravity will pull it down and over his asslips. Use your lube hand to catch the dripping and oozing lube and gently flip it from palm to the back of the hand. Make the touch soft and erotic. By the time your hand is fully coated, the bottom will know his hole is sufficiently lubed for immediate (or near-immediate) penetration.

Preventing Injury from Lubrication Technology

Over time, I've learned that guys who set hole goals for depth will experiment with a lot of different things to gain that depth, including various objects to deliver lube deeper into the fist chute.

Injecting lube deeper is not the secret, nor the shortcut, to deeper fisting. Perforation can easily occur when firm, narrow objects are inserted into the hole, especially if the hole is already taut (due to exhaustion or other objects sharing the space concurrently with a fist or toy). I spent six months and $80,000 learning this lesson.

Only use flexible materials for lube delivery—small circumference tubes that are firm can easily perforate the colon. To illustrate my point, I have a guy picture stepping on a wine cork, a Q-tip, and a nail. The firm nail breaks through the skin. The Q-tip, which is less firm, bends before it has a chance to perforate the skin. The wine cork is so fat that it would take an extreme amount of force for it to penetrate anything.

If a bottom feels it is necessary to lubricate the upper fist chute to obtain more depth, I suggest flexible silicone drinking straws that can attach to a syringe. They have a wider circumference and bend with minimal pressure.
